Frequently Asked Questions

What Minecraft Versions do you support?

We support all versions of Minecraft that have multiplayer support right from alpha to the latest snapshot. We also support all server software, including Forge and Fabric and even custom server software too.

What panel do you use?

We use the most popular panel for Minecraft servers, Pterodactyl. Pterodactyl makes it easy to manage servers, without having to deal with stuff such as manually setting up Java and manually downloading jars from the internet. However, we do allow the use of custom server jars, should you wish.

How does the credits system work?

The credits system is a relatively simple system. Every hour, we take some credits off based on what servers you are running. This system allows flexible pricing as you can change plan and add addons and not be charged for the whole month of using the previous and new specifications, allowing you to save money!

Can you add X feature?

We will consider any suggestions, as we always want to improve Ocean Hosting for everyone! Please just send a message in our discord server about your suggestion in the suggestions channel!

What resources shall I use for my server?

As a bare minimum, any Minecraft server should be using 4GB RAM. Whilst Minecraft can run on less, your experience may vary.

If you are running a proxy server (eg. Bungeecord and Velocity) or any lightweight custom jar (eg. NanoLimbo), then 512MB RAM may be enough, but we recommend going with at least 1GB RAM on these.

If you intend to have lots of players, we recommend having at least 8GB RAM, but for the best experience, you should max out your server with 20GB RAM. For larger servers, we also highly recommend getting an additional core for your server, especially in survival where players may be generating lots of new chunks!

My servers performing badly! What should I do?

Firstly, we recommend reading YouHaveTrouble’s Minecraft Optimisation Guide:

If you are using Fabric, we recommend installing performance mods, such as Lithium: (Scroll down to the General Section)

If this doesn’t work, run spark on your server and send the reports link in our discord server:

If this doesn’t work, you may need to upgrade your resources. This is especially apparent if your resource utilisation is always high!

My server won’t switch on! What do I do?

Please contact support in our discord: or email us at: [email protected]. You’ll need to give us the name of your server in the panel. We’ll make sure that the problem is solved!

How Do I Cancel My Plan?

Go to your client dashboard at and click “My Services” and click on the server you will be cancelling and click “Cancel”, or email us at: [email protected]

I Cant open a ticket! What do I do?

If you can’t open a ticket on our discord server, just wait 10-15 minutes and you should be able to open one. If it is on our client area, please open one on our discord or email us at [email protected] and we’ll solve the issue.
